Why Install a Babicz Telecaster Bridge?
As opposed to a simple fretboard string bend, the operation of the Hipshot B-Bender exaggerates the movement of the selected string (usually the B-string) across the top of the saddle. Traditional guitar saddles (as shown) are triangulated at the bridge plate by way of the intonation screw and the two height adjustment screws, which lends to tuning instability.
The B-Bender cannot shift the Babicz saddles because, as the “Full Contact” name implies, the saddles are in contact with the plate.
Installation
Beginning with the removal of the existing bridge/bridge pickup, installation of the Babicz telecaster bridge is a simple drop-in replacement. Two different mounting screw configurations are available to suit.
The saddles are attached along with the Hipshot B-Bender once the bridge plate is secured.
Issues & Solutions
Babicz saddles are unable to achieve a sufficiently high playing action (the saddles rotate forward/backwards to adjust the height). This necessitated the installation of a separate plate below the Babicz bridge plate (just visible in the following picture).
The Hipshot B-Bender quickly wore away the Babicz saddles because the material is too soft. Stainless Steel alternatives were installed (also from Babicz).
